What is STEADILY?

The primary focus of the STEADILY programme is to reduce the risk of falls, in people over the age of 65, by providing evidence based exercise programmes that can be performed at home with minimal equipment. Alongside these workouts we will provide resources to address other risk factors that contribute to falls. Our mission is to curate an exercise library that can be used by anyone with an internet connection, a chair and a will to improve their health and fitness.

We are not trying to re-invent the wheel. Our course utilises well researched exercise patterns and presents it in a way that is easy to understand and follow along. The reduction in falls and fall related injury is proportional to the time spent performing these exercises. Regular consistent action will yield the best results. Each session is very short - ranging from 10 to 20 minutes. It's the accumulation of sessions over time that builds the necessary strength, balance and flexibility required to reduce your risk of falling.

The intensity of sessions will increase as the course progresses. The initial goal is to be able to perform the movements with good form and without pain prior to ramping the intensity. That being said, some of you may find that 10 - 20 minutes is too difficult and some may find it too easy. Use your judgement and scale the workout accordingly. Sessions can be cut short or repeated.

I highly recommend that you select a movement that was performed in the most recent session and practice it throughout the day. Integrating movements into your day (whilst watching TV, brushing teeth, cooking etc) is a sure-fire way to see rapid improvements.

After signing up to the programme, two full weeks of material will be immediately available. Workout will then be released on a weekly basis.
